- EnerGuide evaluations: Energy assessments of homes using Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) EnerGuide rating system, providing a standardized efficiency score and upgrade recommendations.
Our Services Include:
- ENERGY STAR Evaluations: Verification of homes against ENERGY STAR for New Homes program criteria, confirming high energy performance and builder compliance with federal standards.
- Energy Modeling (HOT2000, eQuest, OpenStudio, SIMEB): Simulation of a building’s energy use to optimize design and performance using tools like HOT2000 (residential), eQuest and OpenStudio/EnergyPlus (commercial), and SIMEB (for Canadian climates and building systems).
- F280 Loss and Gain Calculations (Voltasnap): Heating and cooling load calculations as per CSA F280 standard using Voltasnap to determine appropriate HVAC system sizing.
- ASHRAE Level 1 to 3 evaluations:
Energy audits conducted per ASHRAE standards:
o Level 1: Preliminary walkthrough to identify savings opportunities.
o Level 2: Detailed analysis with energy and cost calculations.
o Level 3: Comprehensive investment-grade audit with detailed modeling and ROI analysis.
- Code compliance and Step Code evaluations (Tier 1 to Tier 5): Assessment of new construction projects to ensure compliance with provincial energy codes, including BC Energy Step Code tiers for performance-based building standards.
- CMHC Eco+ program assessments: Analysis of multi-unit residential buildings applying for CMHC’s Eco+ incentive, evaluating sustainability and energy efficiency criteria.
- MLI Select analysis: Support for the CMHC MLI Select financing program by assessing building features that contribute to energy efficiency, affordability, and accessibility scoring.
- Passive House analysis: Detailed modeling and verification of buildings aspiring to meet Passive House standards for ultra-low energy use and thermal performance.
- Blower Door Testing (Small & Large Buildings): Pressurization tests to measure building airtightness, used for diagnostics, code compliance, and energy performance certification.
- Thermal imaging: Infrared inspections to detect heat loss, insulation deficiencies, air leaks, and moisture intrusion in building envelopes.
- Air Quality & Substance Analysis (In-House Lab): Indoor air testing services including analysis for asbestos, mold, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), performed in a certified in-house laboratory.
